How is everyone doing now that summer and/or winter is arriving with each of their own temptations to eat things we know aren't that great for us but remind us of nostaligic moments? I know so many of us are going through stressful things, too...that does not make it easy! Let's hear how it's going!

I have officially reached 40 lbs down since my fateful doctor's appointment in January. Will I keep it off this vacation week? We shall see! I'm hoping all the steps on the beach will stave off any fat storage.

I don't know if I mentioned my NP increased my semaglutide dose. I am feeling pretty good on it. I love that I can just say no to something now. I really wanted to try the tropical cream slush at Sonic. Took my kid there yesterday and we tried it, and I wasn't a fan, so didn't finish it. We both agreed: not something we'd order again. I would have not even considered that I could just stop eating it a year ago. Go figure!

I was experiencing a first for me on this medication: some hair loss. Now, I have short hair, so I'm really not used to SEEING hair on my shirts, on my pillow, in the sink. It was startling, but I started a multivitamin, switched to a satin pillowcase, and stopped shampooing every day, so we'll see how it goes. Things seem to be turning around. My NP felt it was temporary due to "sudden" weight loss. Trust me, nothing feels SUDDEN about losing weight.

I did show my co-workers that I need new work slacks...mine are quite roomy now! They agreed!

Brilliant Becky!! @scrapchyck on a check-in thread and your journey! I am betting on YOU and the steps on the beach to keep you steady.

I had hair loss on Keto the first time and started a mineral supplement recommended in a group for Keto, I was a moderator forever and helped on 1781546068131.pngKETO 1.0! Also helped me to win the battle of nighttime leg cramps!
Monday will be 2 months on serious Keto (high protein, low carb), and 19.6 pounds off as of today. I am more excited. I was able to mow my lawn on Saturday morning. That and my watch band is now on a 5-hole (was 2). These are the little milestones that help me press on.

Next Monday, since I hit my first goal, we are signing up for a local gym,

so I can go on a treadmill for cardio, and machines for some muscle toning.

I am very apprehensive of the gym, but gonna go with gusto and push it!

Can't wait to hear little victories from anyone else??

Thanks for the supplement tip...if push comes to shove, I will try it all!

Planet Fitness is coming to my neighborhood in the next few months. I may get back to it if it's that close! I hated driving to the gym more than being at the gym.

Your first meme had me rolling...well, not down the flight (is it just one in this case?) stairs!

@scrapchyck well done on the 40lbs. How are your iron levels because low iron is another hair loss deficiency.

@AnneofAlamo I'm lucky enough to have my own home gym so only have to walk a few metres :)

Speaking of the gym, I haven't been for 2 weeks because we've been doing a LOT of yardwork, chopping down huge trees, hauling them to the trailer and/or fire. I'm lucky to have 4 day weekends most weeks so this means I've been doing 10 hour yard work so the thighs and quads have been working hard along with arms and back. Overall I'm feeling great.

I also saw someone on the weekend that I haven't seen for 2-3 years. They almost walked past me as the didn't recognise me! They did a double take at me and then said OMG you've lost so much weight, you look great. So that made me feel great too.

I’m frustrated that I’m not feeling much better and/or definitely not losing any weight in the last month since starting HRT. I’m on the estradiol patch and it’s helped a little with relieving the hot flashes but we’re not there yet. My doc gave me a 3 month prescription to see how it goes and then I’ll go back to see her. I hope my body adjust well to it, and I start feeling better soon.

I just got back from a family beach vacation and walking through sand is no joke so @scrapchyck Becky, you’ll definitely get plenty of legwork in.

We cooked our own meals at the Airbnb, but did get fast food on the drive there and back. I’m not going to beat myself up too much about having some french fries. I did share most of them with my grandkids… Lol.

The last of the kids went home yesterday so today I’m getting back on the wagon. I picked up some fruits and veggies and a rotisserie chicken last night, so we have some good whole food in the house, so there’s no excuses… Lol.

I need to jump on this bandwagon. I've gained what I lost last year, so I need to get back to better habits. I've switched my work meals to my go-to "be better" lunches, added more water, and need to get more movement in. It's summer here, so I plan to do more walking at the shore. It's also my hormones, and stress - everything with my Dad, my HS senior, graduation and college prep.

I started taking these Becky and my hair has improved so much. My nails are getting better (I'm a nail biter), in the sense that I actually have whites on my nails. So small improvements.

I am of the strong opinion that FUNCTIONAL work outs are way more important to be able to do. Whatever you're doing in the gym, should make it possible to actually DO the yard work! It all counts!

I have mixed feelings about people noticing my weight loss. It tends to trigger something in me, like a fear that I won't be able to keep it up, that now people have EXPECTATIONS of me. If it's a guy that says something, it's worse. But, it would be fun to REALLY shock someone, like my ex-husband, in the future. LOL The most I've ever lost from my heighest weight is 80 pounds...and that is still 30 pounds away this time. Maybe if I got back to what I weighed when we got married THAT would shock him.

I didn't do HRT when I had my hysterectomy (with ovary removal) at age 45. It was 2008, and my gynecologist said it was up to me. I had always believed my hormones were the cause of my migraines, and when they went away, I was glad. Since I didn't do a gradual menopause, I just rode it out for a few weeks, and the hot flashes went away pretty quickly. So, I have no advice. My NP wants me to use estradiol cream to stave off atrophy of the genitourinary systems. She says it doesn't get into the bloodstream, but after my first week on it, I had my first migraine in 18 years! Plus, it's expensive and not covered by my insurance! I've heard a lot of people say the patch made all the difference! I hope it starts helping you soon.

I did not go out on the beach yesterday. We were having 20 mph winds and it was really uncomfortable! But this morning, first thing at 6 am, I went for a walk to the jetty...that's about 2 miles down the beach. There was a breeze from the north, but not an uncomfortable one. My poor hip is screaming at me now, but it was SO worth it to see the tide pools. I even got a video of a crab! From my resort, you have to climb over a small set of sandy dunes to get to the ocean, but if you get out on the flatland of the beach, it is much easier to walk on the solid, compacted sand. You have to hop over some eddies, sometimes, but they aren't too wide. It's low tide this morning, so very pleasant!

I had some popcorn shrimp and clam chowder for lunch yesterday (did not eat the fries), and got a small pizza from an Oregon classic: Abby's. I will dole that out over the week. Today, I am planning to go to a Pacific Fusion place, Pono Hukilau, for some kind of seafood. I might go see a movie today! Will there be popcorn? I don't know yet. Probably not! Maybe M&Ms? Peanut ones!

I was looking at that product on Amazon! Thanks for the recommendation! I have had such a hard time with my nails lately, too...for a couple of years, longer than the hair. Lots of ridges, peeling, and one of them now has an indentation that was never there before. It's like someone scooped it out underneath or something.

Glad you're jumping back on the bandwagon! It is so hard when there is a lot going on. 2024 and 2025 were my years of putting myself on the backburner recently. Too much going on. Just do what you can! We only have so much bandwidth for everything. Small changes can make a difference! I'm rooting for you!

Sorry the cream gave you migraines... it stinks when the cure is worse than the disease it was prescribed to treat. The walk along the compacted shore is definitely better than going across the dunes to get down to it. I loved the beaches in Oregon when we went in 2018. They're beautiful - too bad the water is so cold. It was freezing in August! I'd never imagined it would be that way. As for the movie and popcorn/peanut m&ms dilemma, have a little of both. You gotta have popcorn if you go to the movie. It's part of the experience. Don't overdo it, but definitely enjoy it! :agree

:rofl Yep! Our water is cold! Did that stop my kids from swimming at Sunset Bay State Park when we lived in Coos Bay? It did not! The trick is to get out and then get right back in...it feels warmer after that! :rofl (Probably because your nerve endings are dead!)

@scrapchyck I totally get how you feel about the pressure with people noticing weight loss. It's something that's never really talked about. Even when you know you haven't put weight on it's always there at the back of your mind. A pair of pants felt a bit tighter on me last weekend and my first thought was "oh crap" and I went to the scale to check weight. I think that's why we tend to go into hiding if we put more weight back on. Oh the pressure!! I'm just really trying to not be hard on myself this time round.
