at the heart of it

For the May 2026 Rachel Jefferies Mixed Media Challenge, I created this layout in which I contemplate my speech and habits in life and scrapbooking.
Description
I used the Rachel Jefferies Eidos kit & template.
I am in love with all of the wonky circles. I also adore the journaling. I get caught up in the shoulds as well. We're should-ing all over ourselves. :giggle I love the idea of documenting a monthly reading journey, but I can barely keep up with tracking my reading in an app. I think being a rebel is fabulous, and I love this page.

I adore this page and your journaling. The flow of the scatter, that frame and your selfie, so beautiful! This is what makes making art fun.

Wonderful theme/story to tell and I like how the journaling is really the star of the show here with the supporting photo and elements to balance out the journaling.

I'm a Questioner in the 4 Tendencies and once I found that out everything made more sense. I can comply with instructions and am motivated to do things when I understand the "WHY" behind them. That's why my last job was such a problem -- I worked as a Librarian for the Dept of the Navy and they were always in "Just Follow Orders" mode and I NEED to know the why behind the command or I'll just question you to death. LOL.

I long ago realized that I couldn't scrap chronologically because I'd always feel bad about how I wasn't caught up. So I decided to just scrap whatever I wanted and call it good. It's worked for me.

I was drawn in by the amazing flow of this scatter; the colors and anchor along the left border also drew me in. After reading your text I have follow up questions LOL Love and relate to the self-awareness of the "yeah that's probably not going to be completed" aspect of certain aspirational projects for me too. I recently read a piece about just this - choosing words with intention and for joy/optimism rather than a negative slant.

There are no shoulds in art, if you ask me! Love that frame!!!
If only I could get my unconscious mind to stop suggesting that there are...it takes years of practice recognize from where those thoughts come and more years to interrupt them! Thanks for stopping by.
I love this thick frame and how your scatters around the journaling.
At first I thought the frame was too thick and then I realized how adding more scatters and words would balance its weight. I can always add more words!
