journaling:
Since I am no longer working (retired for 13 years now), I have been a little rusty with Word and Excel. After getting a new laptop 3 years ago, our microsoft office did not transfer over, and I did not want to buy it again... Recently CJ suggested Google Docs & helped me with it. It has a free word program and a free Excel style spreadsheet that I needed to learn to use for my various things I keep track of (for the Lilypad & the Memorial listing I keep up for the High School Alumni.). It is perfect for what I need, was free, and I learned something new!
I recognise ...
When I bought my new MacBook at the end of last year, I was quite happy that I could install it completely myself. I had managed to transfer some things from my previous one, but there was still work to be done. With Google My Friend, I managed it.

Finding something free is always a good motivator to learn a new skill. I would have given up on Microsoft Office long ago if it wasn't for sending documents for others to open....maybe I just need to investigate the options more because I could certainly use the $12 a month I give to Microsoft
