Soft Foods

Sounds like you have lots of good soft food ideas. I had mine out about 30 years ago, so I don't remember what I ate, but I do remember that the recovery was pretty easy, so I hope your daughter has the same experience. I didn't know what to expect, so it wasn't bad at all. Only a few years prior to getting my wisdom teeth out, I had my tonsils out and that recovery was horrid, so I was very nervous thinking it would be bad like that, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure you're going to take good care of her. :agree
I’m getting a lot of exercise going up the stairs to her room frequently lol my niece thought it was as bad as tonsils so I’m glad yours wasn’t that bad. It’s been fine for us except I’ve had questions and no way to reach the doc over the weekend so we’re relying on Google lol

Just saw this and sending good vibes for an easy removal and quick recovery.
Thank you Lisa! I was worried when the doc had to talk to me right after about how close the nerves were but thankfully she didn’t stay numb so there shouldn’t be any nerve damage.

I'm sending good vibes to your daughter.
My eldest son had his wisdom teeth removed three years ago and had no trouble eating afterwards. The next day, he had to eat soft foods and then return to a normal diet. He had to take antibiotics for a week and use mouthwash. Like any rebellious teenager, he didn't use the mouthwash properly, so he got a minor infection and had to take another week of antibiotics and use the mouthwash (which he did properly this time).
My daughter has an antibiotic and mouthwash too so I’ll be sure to remind her to use both!

Since hots foods can be more sensitive, my daughter did applesauce and yogurt a lot too. Along with mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, mac & cheese.
Her request yesterday was mac & cheese from El Pollo Loco since it’s nice and soft. It’s one of my favorites so I was happy to oblige so I could have some too. ;)

Mashed potatoes and lots of butter...yum! Pudding and ice cream for dessert. Yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce. Tomato soup and soggy crackers or bread in it.
I think we’ve done all of these! Cottage cheese has been one of her favorites which I did not expect.

When I had mine out 43 years ago, I drank milkshakes (no straw!) after it. Don't remember what I ate. Just remember the milkshakes and spending time in bed reading for at least 3 days. I was just happy to not be working at McDonald's for those 3 days ;)

As for soft foods now, scrambled eggs would be good (but not restaurant style scrambled eggs that are more fried). I agree with the mashed potatoes, applesauce and pudding. Those were all things I ate when I had no teeth.
She has been enjoying tapioca pudding but refuses to eat eggs.

Thank you Christa. She is surviving but not happy with how sore her jaw is. I didn’t think about the oatmeal grains but I have worried about raspberry and strawberry seeds.
Use a bag of frozen peas on her jaw or an ice pack, but the frozen peas or frozen corn will help. I used that too when I had my wisdoms out, plus also on my arm when I had the melanoma surgery.. the frozen peas form to the area and bend. I do hope she feels better.

i have 2 teeth ad cant chew, my diet consist of soft scrambled egg, knors butter flavor noodes, cooked soft, add whip cream, bob evans mashed potatoes made into soup with whip cream. at one time, i could eat kraft garden veg cream cheese, cottage cheese smahed ,and graham crackers in bowl milk till paste.. one can only drink so many milk choc ensures, need a break from them.

Thanks Christa! Great tip!

I’m sorry you can’t chew Cath. I’m glad you have soft foods you like. I cooked noodles last night for her.

Blended soups and scrambled eggs would be my go to, with yoghurt/ice-cream for my sweet fixes.

I hope things go well.
We’re having soup today. She didn’t like the last soup but hopefully this one is better.

Sounds like you have some great soft food choices. My mom made my daughter congee (its a Chinese soft rice soup) and it was her saviour! I have the funniest videos of her when she got them removed...the anesthesia work so good on her :tantrum

The cottage cheese is a great protein since she likes it and will help her heal! Have you heard about the Japanese cheesecake trend?
Some people do with plain yogurt, some with cottage cheese. Some blend it, but I have left it as is, just stirring. The graham cracker becomes soft overnight and flavors the cottage cheese or yogurt.
for example.

If she wants savory try salsa on top. I personally love Grillo's dill pickle rounds/dash of it's juice and cherry tomatoes on top, but you'd have to chop all that.

My daughter didn’t react to the anesthesia at all! We were all so disappointed!

I need to try that Japanese cheesecake trend for myself! We love cottage cheese and salsa in our house; it’s a favorite dip for tortilla chips!
