Here you have the Jose Gasparilla II, a pirate ship that has been invading the city of Tampa for over 100 years. Gasparilla is a historic Tampa, Florida tradition dating back to 1904, celebrating the mythical pirate, Jose Gaspar. Originally created to boost city tourism, it features a surprise pirate "invasion" by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. It has evolved into a massive annual celebration, including parades and pirate-themed festivities that draw hundreds of thousands to the Tampa Bay area. Think Mardi Gras, pirate style. It's a lot of fun and the Jose Gasparilla sits in Tampa Bay next to the convention center year round.
This photo was taken as the ship sailed into Tampa, cannons firing, to kidnap the Mayor and ransom her for the Key to the City.
This page is fanfreakingtastic! I adore the blending and the multiple frames. I love the story behind this page, thank you so much for sharing that, I'd love to be there for that event.
This is so fun! Such a good photo and a great story!! I really like how you framed and blended the photo. And I like the little corner cluster and the word art. Fantastic!
Congrats on your well deserved Froggie Fave! I love the large photo and the fabulous colour filled flags that add so much fun and excitement to the boat.
