Visiting the Airborne Monument at Ginkelse Heide, Netherlands. This monument honours the 2.200 allied soldiers that were in the airborne landings of Operation Market Garden in 1944.

Beautiful page Anja! Love the monument photos.. that iron?? monument with the paratroopers landing is simply amazing.. I googled the Operation Market Garden Sept. 1944 ...Thank you for sharing the history. The stamp shaped journal spots is a great addition!
 
@cfile it's corten steel or weathering steel, which has a stable rust layer. It blends beautifully with the surrounding heath.
 
I googled too to learn a little. I actually love visiting, learning and seeing places like this as I get older. The magnitude of it hits me a little more than when I was younger. Great photo of them taking in the memorial! I love the clean lines, it lends to the clean lines of the memorial!
