Jane Austen (1775-1817) was only 15 or 16 years old when she wrote her brilliant, satirical, tongue-in-cheek History of England (1791). She jokingly described herself as “a partial, prejudiced, & ignorant Historian.” Partial and prejudiced she may have been (she definitely favoured the Stuarts over the Tudors!), but ignorant she was not. Here she comments ironically on the erasure of women from official historical accounts (“it is not in my power to inform the Reader who was his wife”…).
Oh I love this so much! I love the blurb of text from Jane Austen and you can just hear the snark oozing from her words. I love the big drop text H to start your journaling area and how you added the storybook castle behind it all. Great lift!
