by mosquitos! Yes they love me and bite me constantly (have done so since I was a baby!)... and at the moment it's all day as well as in the night. The joy's of summer! Not!!!

Anyone with any help on how I can protect myself from these pesky insects. In the short time I've been on here I've been bitten 3 times already... it's so itchy... grr!!!

Ok off to swat another one, lather myself in cream and hope to avoid another bite.

I used Peaceful Sleep repellent spray, also keep the doors and windows closed after 6pm. Citronella oil or candles might also help or sitting under a fan. They track your CO2 output apparently and a fan can disrupt that.
    I feel your pain!

Yip Peaceful sleep in my constant friend... using both the repellent and the pads. I've tried the candles and sometimes that helps. The fan sort of works.

    It's just a constant struggle.

I too get eaten alive. I might get 10 bites when outside and my hubs gets none (almost never). They love me too. I started using Avon's bug shield wipes (keep them in my car) and in the house I keep the spray. I still get bites but maybe not so many. It smells nice too. I use After Bite to help with the itch which seems to help a bit but not completely.

I used to rub a dryer sheet on exposed skin... it seemed to keep them away. Then I'd stick it in my pocket.
There is nothing that says this works, but it worked for me on a whim one summer.

Mosquitoes are the worst! Thank goodness for winter when we get some relief. My husband is a mosquito magnet, but when they get me I often get a bad allergic reaction, so we really hate them with a passion.
@jk703 thanks for the tip, we'll try it out in summer, anything is worth a shot! Cathy let us know if you give this a try!

@jk703 I had to look up to see if I can even get dryer sheets in South Africa... will have to check that out. At this stage I will try almost anything!

UGH! Hate mosquitoes! I remember when we were on a trip to Nova Scotia. We would run from our car to the cabin to get away from the mosquitoes. We would run, flail our arms and "act crazy". Not sure it helped but it was fun for my then 6 year old! It was fun for us grown ups too! :lol

I just have a very attractive husband always at hand. Mosquitoes go straight for him, for every bite I get, he gets twenty. He would sleep wrapped up in the sheet like a burrito, and I can sleep uncovered and he still gets covered in bites... But I am keeping him. So you have to find someone even tastier than you of your own :P

Mosquitoes seem to like me too. I think it's something with body warmth?... not sure if I understood correctly but there's nothing I can do about my body warmth lol
Edit: I had to check it out with Google's AI and here is what it said.
"Some people are more likely to get bitten by mosquitoes because of their body heat, metabolism, and the types of bacteria on their skin."

Here in Japan most houses have screens at the windows thank god. When they don't they use this kind of incent but I am not sure it would be enough for me.

I would love to see a mosquito right now...I'd even take a bite :giggle Too cold here for them right now, but I totally understand. I typically do what Jenn suggested with the dryer sheet. I've also used the Avon wipes that Rae mentioned.

if you find a solution, let me know - our summer has just been alternating rain and heat and humidity, and we have so many pot plants which is like their best breeding weather and conditions so it's just a losing battle - my daughter says to stop itching she learnt that you heat a spoon over a candle flame or in a glass of boiling water and then burn the bite; i can't bring myself to even try that but her and her camping friends swear by it- me? i'll take the itching and the mozzie drone noise over huntsman spiders and big red cockroaches any day of the week - yay for summer down under :eyeroll
