I've decided to do a project life style album for my childhood photos/memorabilia. I'm only 23 so a lot of it is still pretty fresh I won't be doing week by week, just doing it organically so everything is in the same album. My question is when you use photographs that you only have the originals of (whether from relatives or pre-digital age), how do you use them in project life? Do you just use them, use them without altering, or do you scan them in and then re-print them? If you have duplicates of your photos (say from CVS) what do you do with those? Album? Keep them in the envelope? Thanks for any input- I want to start off on the right foot!
I'm not working on PL, but I would suggest having copies made for your album and preserving the originals. Put them away some place safe and then if you, or anyone else ever needs them for another project or to frame even.. you have them in tact.
If it were me, I'd just scan the original and then use it however you want to. You can always print more once you scan it.
If I weren't planning on altering the photo any then I would probably use the originals in my PL album - cut down on the cost and time to scan and reprint. BUT if I were planning on cropping or stamping / stickering / altering the photo in any way from it's original form, I would scan and reprint. Then I would get a simple sleeve photo album and slide the originals in there in some kind of order that works for you so you can keep them safe and accessable.
