Oh boy. Music has always been a big part of my life, kind of like that best friend you can always turn to. Going to go deep with this one...I scrapped a page about my Dad and I. He and I are so much alike. The older I get, the more I hear myself saying things he used to say to me. I remember listening to him playing his guitar to the same songs over and over and over again. He is a self-taught guitarist. I don't think he realizes how good he really is. Every time I hear the song "Amie" by Pure Prairie League, for example, I am immediately taken back to those evenings listening to him playing until he perfected a song. Anyway....I scrapped the lyrics to our Father/Daughter dance at my wedding since I didn't have pictures of the other song. This wasn't even the song I had chosen, but it's the one the DJ played; and while we danced, my Dad sang some of the lyrics and it was the perfect moment.
Well I now have more songs on my playlist that was neglected and this song describes my year and attitude I need to keep as I keep learning. Brand New Me by Alicia Keys

Here's mine. I was super bummed that I couldn't attend the Women's March in Ottawa. But I had Bronchitis. The photos and stories from my friends at the marches in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Washington were inspiring and really lifted my spirits on a day I was feeling really down.
mine : I've used an extract from a famous french song "Mon fils, ma bataille" by Daniel Balavoine. in this song, he explains that he would move mountains for the love of his son. And since few month, I've begun a "fight" with the school and the administration because my son has autism troubles.
Had to go with The Beatles and a song I have always loved. There are so many songs that mean something to me when I hear them. I plan on doing an 8x8 album of songs and their meanings to me. Thanks for the fun challenge, Erin!!
I used lyric from Lucky song by Jason Marz which summed up our whole journey of love from being university's classmates to best friends and to lovers.
My page: Translation (part of) this song: Marco Borsato - Doe wat je altijd deed It was played at my husbands funeral Do like you always did Like I'm still here Live every day to the fullest With your whole heart You will find me You will feel me I'm always near miss me It is ok I miss you just as much Cry if you have to cry free your tears And if you have to laugh don't hold back because of me Cause I feel you I'm always with you I'm close to you I watch over you And I you search for me I'll always be there
Struggled with this one... but then again, this is what my song I picked is about. Those brilliant ideas swirling around in your head that tend to come out flat when you try to put them in action. They speak to me specifically during MOC when I try to force layouts to happen, and also in my life right now as I try to figure out my next steps in life... And the link to the song, since I doubt many people have heard of it...
I chose a song that was sung at our wedding. We chose it because the words spoke to us, becoming one. I was blessed to have my grandmother sing it at our wedding which brings another level of meaning to it for me. All these years later, I can still hear her beautiful soprano voice. I miss her but this beautiful memory remains.
