This is my husband and I's favorite song. I even have the line "With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair" tattooed on my ribs
What to choose... what to choose. Since birds seem to be a common thread in my layouts these days, I went with Blackbird by The Beatles:
It's interesting that this was today's challenge as I had just read about his only child Lisa Marie Presley's death in the newspaper this morning.
Great challenge. There was actually a song, Old Ironsides based on Oliver Wendell Holmes poem, Old Ironsides. I could find it in children's song books but could not find a recording of it. So I used the Star Spangled Banner which was also written during the War of 1812 (when Old Ironsides became famous)
I created an ATC for this challenge. Jim passed away in 2019 so "our song" has taken on a whole new meaning for me.
This is actually a re-scrap of a layout I did in 2011 about my love for dogs. I needed to add Peyton. The song "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" was released in 1953 but played often in our house by my parents.
My daughter is a musician currently studying music education in college... the song is "Rise" by Katy Perry and it is perfect for her... she has a chronic illness that rules her life and she still rises
The first time I ever really listened to this song, we were at a Equestrian Vaulting Competition in Albuquerque, NM, in 2012 and this girl was doing this lovely routine and the song was just mesmerizing. Nearing the end of her routine, which was stunning, she made a slight mistake and fell off the horse breaking her ankle. It was so tragic, she was disqualified, but every time I hear this song now, I always think of her and say a little prayer. My girls were just learning vaulting, so they were beginners, but we had fun with this sport, it was amazing and girls really loved the horses.
Thanks for this challenge! 38 years ago, my husband and I danced on this song when we met for the first time.
