I'm starting a layout and I'm trying to replicate the lines that indicate the way our cruise ship will be going to each island (as seen on this map). Is there a way in PS CC to do this easily? TIA. I'm probably overthinking things, but I can't figure it out.
I've used blend modes (usually the darkening ones, I think) to make a map look like it was printed on my background paper.
So just so I understand are you trying to recreate the lines (curvy with arrow heads in the middle) yourself so they are high resolution etc, which makes me think brushes, pen tool or line tool (which you can select arrowheads for the end points I believe)with some warping might bey approach; or are you fine with using the map (sized as is or resizing it) then basically magic wand selecting the paths and then 'bucket filling' them and adding triangles/arrow custom shapes over the top?
If you're trying to create your own wavy lines, I'd use the pen tool. You can click along the rough path you'd like to create and then after the line is created you can use the convert icon to click the points that are short line segments and it'll convert them to curves between the points. You click on the junction points between lines to convert them. You can also move the points around after the line is created to get it just right. I don't have photoshop in front of me right now so I can't grab screen shots. Here's a video I found on YouTube that might help:
This video was a lot of help. Thank you. But I chickened out and just erased everything except the route from the original picture. The layout won't be completed until we finalize the rest of our excursions, but so far, I'm happy with it. It will be page 1 in the scrapbook.
Oh this is such an awesome page! Your method worked perfectly! I am so jealous of your fun trip too! I hope you have a fabulous time!
I think what you chose to do was perfect, Donna! I wouldn't have known! I hope it's an amazing trip too!
Thanks! This has been in the works for years. We were supposed to go for our 40th Anniversary, but John's cancer and then Covid happened. Now we're going with our best friends. We're all very excited!
