Only for my headphones honestly. I have an iPhone 7 so there’s no way to plug anything in. Luckily I had got Beads wireless headphones when I bought my iMac two years ago so I go around in style!

I always learn so much from u Anne ! (love the symbol breakdown) I have a love hate relationship w/ Bluetooth, sometimes it works & sometimes not but more it's just seems to drain the battery so much, but I do prefer it to plugging stuff in & I don't think fitBit would work without it & I don't miss the whiplash I often got from headphone cords getting caught on kitchen door handles while I multitask!

I Lol'd at this really to the point I had to explain myself to the fam, so I read out your post and DH pointed out that D is 500 in Roman numerals so apparently you have a smart Aussie male GpS, & no I don't think all Aussie males would know that!
(And for the record, we used to toggle the GPS between Homer & Mr Burns fromThe Simpsons & John Cleese (from the UK) - hearing them berate you for doing something wrong is oddly funny & satisfying!)

I have a set of bluetooth speakers that my hubby bought me for Christmas last year. Usually I buy the cheapest option available but he spent about $70 on those things and they are AMAZING! I use them most when I'm cleaning or cooking to listen to music and then always when I do my scrapbooking weekends with my friend. :) The only other thing I use BT for is my Apple AirPods (which again, I never would have paid for, but I earned them free when I bought my new computer) and they are the coolest things ever. My favorite thing when I first got them was I could FaceTime my boys at home from the grocery store and actually hear them without having everyone around me hearing them too! :giggle

Thanks for the history lesson too Anne... that's fascinating!

In my car... there is an app that connects to my phone. So... any calls or texts/messages appear on my car screen to identify who, then I can listen to Siri read them. I can speak out loud to Siri to reply, answer the call, dictate a message or make a call. It takes away from the want to see what's going on when that beep occurs. It's much safer for me, lol! I used to hand my phone to the kids to reply... and make them say I was driving and so and so was responding.

Oh, DH has tried to show me how to use the app connected with the car. He was so darn smug and all like "oh, it's sooo easy. Look!" ... and when he said "Call Mom," it called Mark. Now, Mark is my brother so NBD with that, but the big deal was that then he was all flustered and trying to hit Cancel on the car's touch screen, but it wasn't working so he went to grab his phone instead. I was like STOP, I'll do it! But thanks for proving my point, dear. My car's BT doesn't work well. That's fine cuz I don't mind waiting.

It's not like I'm super important and always getting calls/texts. If I can't get it to work correctly while driving, then I don't want to use it; I'll wait until I'm wherever I need to be. I barely leave a 5 mi radius around my house, so people don't have long to wait for a reply lol. A friend of mine was telling me how the cops in our city will rent out second-story office space to VIDEO intersections and to radio a waiting patrol car to pull over people using their cell phones/are distracted. So it's not worth it to me.

That's awesome! I'm astounded when I see people looking at their phones while driving. I will look at mine at a red light. I will even glance at it occasionally if a text comes because I have kids who I sometimes leave home alone, so I wouldn't want to make them wait if I they were texting some urgent need (and if so, I'd pull over to reply). But I don't see how anyone can drive safely while looking at their phone and the worst part is that they could hurt other people, not just themselves. So I'm glad to know some places are trying to deter using phones while driving.

Wow- I learned something new today! ;) Thanks! :D

My phone connects to my car (GMC Acadia) for calls/messages & I LOVE it!

The hubby's car is so crazy smart & tech- (Tesla Model 3) and Bluetooth IS the car basically. Our phones connect to the car for the key. (aka there is no key) You have to have your phone with you to open the door and then inside to drive. On the tesla app on our phones you can also- lock/unlock, see where the car is via gps (even when it's driving!), turn on/off ac/heat, open trunk/frunk, summon (have the car pull in/out of garage or parking spot.) It's crazy! It also connects to phone for contacts, etc. But I do have to say that I like how the text messages are read out loud better in my gmc than the tesla!

Our first BT device was our home phone. About 7 years ago we cut the land line and went with a cell phone that has the same number and sits on my desk at home. We have a Bluetooth hand phone set with 4 hand sets around the house. They let us answer the cell as if it was a land line. Very cool.

On my phone, I use BT for my Fitbit. My dd has BT speaker that we used in the car on the last trip.

Does Chromecast use BT? I know our Blueray player does wifi and BT. I can't keep up with the techy side anymore...
