I want to know how bad the weather is. I'm headed there early tomorrow morning for a NHS (National Honor Society) trip with seven students and most of our trip is spent walking. Are the sidewalks clean? Please tell me this isn't going to be an enormous disaster...

I don't think downtown got much snow at all. I am in a near suburb, and we only had maybe two inches, but by 3pm it all turned to rain, so the roads are mostly all clear. We are on a two hour delay today only because of icy roads; but it is sunny and supposed to be 45 today, so even more will melt.

I think you will be fine downtown.

I wouldn't worry about it. I live a bit west of DC and we got more snow than they did. If it hadn't been above freezing most of the day, it probably would have been about a foot of snow. It's so warm, though, that there was probably only about 5 inches on the ground by the evening and now it's probably only about 2-4 inches. It was strange because it snowed all day - heavily at times - and the depth of snow on the railing didn't change. It was just above freezing when I got up so I expect most of this to be gone by tomorrow. I'm not even planning to shovel our driveway :). Since DC got so much less snow, it's probably clear by now.

There might be some traffic cams in DC itself that you could look at to see the actual conditions. I know there are plenty around the city, but I've never tried to look at the traffic in DC.

ETA: Oh, and enjoy your trip!!
