I try to stay on top of things and wash daily. If I am busy (or sick) that schedule falls by the way side and the whole laundry things piles up until the weekend. I wash whites and towels on the weekends. Lately there are a lot of "universal" loads, with a mish-mash of everything in the mix. The kids have been helping sort laundry for a while, so that is a big help. We don't iron around here. Funny to take note of this now, considering I was a heavy starch girl, pre-kids. Now, I am more likely to spritz a shirt with a little mist of water and slap it in the dryer for a few minutes to fluff out a wrinkle or two, over dragging out the iron.
I do all of the laundry at once, so it is like an ongoing all-day project, but it feels so good to have it all done at once. I take care of moving each load along and pulling them out of the dryer and laying stuff out so they won't wrinkle, but then my kids (9 and 12) are responsible for folding/hanging/putting away.
I don't mind laundry. It pretty much does all the work itself. Everyone brings their stuff down when needed. Often they will start it themselves and I throw it in the dryer. I fold and leave the clean stuff in the basket for them to take upstairs and put away. We have a load or two running most days of the week. Now if there was an auto cleaning bathroom machine. THAT would be awesome.
