You know what's the worst part of being 17 years old? No hotels accept minors unaccompanied of adults... So, I'll visit my aunt in Rome in the end of this year and I bought tickets to go to Paris. After that, I start looking for hotels there. I sent an email to a hotel in Paris and they said they don't accept minors. What am i gonna do now? I bought the tickets already. I'm desperate. Do you know any hotel in Paris, in a good location that I can try to email asking if they accept me there? Hugs, Re
Re, have you seen the hostels?? I stayed at d'artagnan at Paris, but I was 20 y.o.... http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostels-Paris----Le-d-Artagnan-020001.en.htm ** I was backpacking and stayed at a lot of hostels during my trip, in different countries, but I don't know about the age....
Is the location good, Fe? Did you like it? I'm worried about it.. I think I won't find a place to stay there and I'll need to delay the trip. I'll be 18 in the end of February and I'll be in Paris in the beginning of Feb. ¬¬
well, this is a pretty cool hostel, and there were tons of brazilians when I was there; it has an underground area with entertainment, you don' even need to go out at night! lol!! the good thing about Paris, there's metro all around, and two blocks from this hostel. it's near to the Pere Lachaise cemetery, a famous point because there are tombs of many writers, scientists and Jim Morrison too... I thought it was good and an easy location...about your age, I really don't know what is best to do!!
I'm probably gonna get bashed, but I think I'd fudge . . . if it's just a matter of a couple weeks . . . who's gonna know?
It's a matter of insurance and they will ask for passport or some kind of ID.... can you change the tickets for after your bday? btw. that is some awesome bday present !
My aunt is part of a group called Servas... she hosts people from all over the world in her home in the smallest of villages ever! Maybe something like that would work? Worth checking into...
Gosh... I almost want to just get tickets and go with you... My sister in law just went to paris on her honeymoon and I was green with envy! I sure hope that you're able to find a hotel that will let you stay!
I dont know anyone in Paris that can have you over RE, mas se vc vem pra Londres...vc ja sabe... you can stay at ours, no worries.... Of Ferdy knows the hostel, fine...now I wouldn't trust hostels with ANYTHING left alone....keep everything with you at all times.... how long ago have you been Fer? Europe isnt what it was not even 5 years ago.... in the past three years a lot has changed and gotta be extremely careful...I'm saying this because lots of people in South America have the idea that Europe is somehow more "civilized and fair" than any latin cities.....is NOT the case. I lived 9 years in Rio and never been robbed...was mugged in Madrid twice (and this was in 92) Regarding the passports and liying (if that is what fudging means?) I worked for the tourism industry....and yes, they do look at the date of birth, what's more, in any hotel you have to fill a check in card, and you need to write down your DOB.... the employee who checks you in could be fired if they book a minor.... I know it may seem unfair, but laws exist for a reason..... I'm quiet sure that you can , though, find your way around it if you are willing to pay a 5 stars. In most 5 stars they will allow you with a permission signed, dated by your parents, translated to whatever language you ll be using, plus legalised in the Brazilian consulate...... As I said, if you come to London, let me know at least with 48 hs notice, as we are having people in and out in summer....
come visit me!!!!! you may even convince me to gio to Paris for a weekend...we have the Eurostar, just under 3 hours....from my door to Paris Gard du Nord!!!!
Now you're thinking. Let me just go tell my dh I need to go to Paris to help someone out. How could he say no to that?!
hahaha thank you so much for your help, ladies! Oh Gosh... this is so hard to do. I doubt if I were Justin Bieber or one of the One Direction boys I'd being having headaches about it. lol Well, I emailed 3 hotels, 1 hostel (albergue in Portuguese) and I just got 2 answers. lol From 2 hotels in Quartier Latin. 1 said they can't accept minors there. They didn't say why or didn't give me any help. BUT the other hotel, said they can't host minors without adults. It's because of security and law, but they said I could stay there without my parents and with another adult. ¬¬ which means, I don't have a solution! argh! I wish I could stay at a 5 stars there like Cynthia said but, would they accept me? lol I tried to check an studio (small apartment) to stay there. I found a great one at Champs Elysées, but I need to stay at least 1 month to rent it. I'm SO unlucky! When something is going great, something bad needs to happen. I think I'll stay at street. lol Dalis, it isn't a bday gift, it's a graduation one. lol
