Girls, I am doing digital PL, and wondering what font size is a good size for my pages? When I am working on my CS4, I always make sure that I can read my journaling when I zoom out to 25% (using Times New Roman as a guide, I usually use it at 18 pt). But when I upload my pages here or at my blog, I can't read them, and I notice that I am always able to read other people's journaling on their PL. I am just worried that if the font size is too big, it won't look good on the book (I'm planning to print them photobook style). But if the fonts are too small, I am afraid once printed, I won't be able to read them. Please help. Thanks
i follow the 25% rule as well but I've never had any pages printed so I can't be sure it works! y dont you crop a strip off your page and put it on an a4 page as is. Print it to make sure its ok. Doing a strip wont waste much ink, especially if u change to grayscale. I lighten as well when I am checking things like this so that less ink is wasted!
^^this! The size of fonts varies quite a bit depending on the font so it's always best to make a test print. I am putting together a photobook for my mom (I am scrapping 12"x12", but it will be printed out 8x8) and I printed out a sample page to check the font size. Anyway, Times New Roman at 18pt should definitely be big enough to read comfortably.
Thanks, girls! You are all such a help @Eryn I thought about that too, but I don't have a printer. Will have to ask hubby for a mother's day gift haha
I've been using 12 points with mine and it has been legible too. But mine is kind of a handwriting/scripty font.
I have been using a much smaller font size on PL but since I'm printing at home I figure as long as I can read it it is fine. 12 point is so big I often can't fit everything I have to say on a card. I always seem to use a smaller font size than I would like to on my scrapping. 12 point is usually my favorite for readability but I often end up smaller.
Another way to test it might be to have a digital card printed out on a 4x6 print at Wal-Mart or CVS or Target--wherever they have almost instant digi printing. You could halve the 4x6 and have the second half of the card scaled smaller so you can see what's easiest to read at 8x8. It should only cost 50 cents or so for a couple of test prints if you're going to one of those places already.
On my project life I use a typewriter font and always do 12 but there are times I have to make it smaller to add more detail so it all fits. I print my 4 x 6 cards up. My weekly layouts are 8 x 8 in size. I have them printed in book format at the end of the year.
