Do you enjoy any of the usual winter sports like skiing and ice skating? I have to admit the only thing I really enjoy about skiing is the cute outfit and hanging out in the lodge. We've had practically had no winter this year, so we haven't gotten to sled or build snowmen. I do miss that part of winter fun. Otherwise, I am more of a "curl up by the fire" girl rather than a stomp around in the snow one. LOL
I think I'm more of a curl up by the fire girl, too! I don't like the snow so I'll pass on sledding or tubing and I have this crazy fear of ice skates. I worry that I'll fall and I'll get sliced open by skates! LOL!
would love to ski... and snowshoe but we haven't had a chance to go. does indoor swimming count? lol.
When I was in high school I tried snowboarding. It didn't end well. I enjoy watching winter sports, but would rather spend winter inside. Which is odd since it grew up in the northeast where winters are long & cold and everyone does some sort of winter sport.
we've been hitting the slopes this winter! i've skied since Jr. High and now we are teaching our daughter's to ski~ our son broke his collar bone on his first day snowboarding this year. . .so he's had to take some time off, but other than that we've loved being out in the snow this year!
I hate the cold. But I run all winter, does that count? I complain a lot during, if that sways the decision.
Ice skating definitely. We've gone a few times but nothing outdoor yet this year.. I hope we get some kind of winter so we can. I run during the winter months, not sure if that can be classed as a winter sport especially this year. Like today it's 12C (abt. 54F). I saw more than person person out running today wearing shorts. At the end of January. In Canada.
Since we have winter 7 months of the year (or at least it feels like that), we definitely need something to pass the time. So we like to go tobogganing (sledding - the kids want to go daily as long as there is enough snow on the hill behind our house), and snowmobiling (once a year, if that). Plus the kids like to skate. I skate around holding onto the hockey net that is missing the net, using it like a skate-trainer, but that's about it - I've never felt comfortable on skates.
I HATE the Winter and I LOATHE snow...so I don't play any winter sports at all. If it's snowing I am trying my hardest not to go out in it. LOL!
i much prefer to stay warm, although i'm always up for a game of hockey! that's about it. the rest of it, i'll pass on. maybe if i ever learn to ski i might enjoy that every now and then, but really i just like to be warm too much to spend very much time out in the cold.
I love all the winter sports. I'm not very sporty, but for some reason I love the ski and ice skate. It's just so expensive that we don't do either of those things very often. DH and I used to snowmobile all the time before we had kids. We had our own sleds and kept them at a friends huge barn right near some good trails. We sled to the po-dunk bars and have the best cheeseburgers ever. I really miss that a lot! But, just yesterday I was thinking how glad I am that I don't own a snowmobile this year we still haven't had enough snow to use one. We did get to go sledding once so far though.
basketball is a winter sport. right? i was raised in a basketball family. and now my 15.5 year old daughter plays JV. it is SO MUCH fun! she's 5'10 and is pretty dang good. (she didn't get her athletic ability from me ofcourse) and i love watching her team play. they're doing so good this season too! track pre-season starts (spring sport) and she's a high jumper and that is TONS of fun to watch as well!! she placed 5th in the state last year. she makes me so proud i think i could burst!
I love curling up by the fire with a cuppa hot cocoa....after stomping in the snow! lol. And I do love to watch figure skating!
I didn't grow up where there was a "winter", and my parents weren't winter sports kind of people, so we stayed home and swam in our pool all winter. I have a terrible fear of heights...I've tried to ski, but let's just say I wasn't really successful. I would've had to travel way too far to ice skate. I roller skated when I was younger though. So...I'm with you Laura. I'd rather curl up by the fire!
The only winter sport I really like is Bowling! Love to watch but participate in, I'd prefer indoors! LOL
