Hey everyone—just a quick moment before we jump back into all the summer camp fun.

I only recently saw the headlines about the flooding in Texas and the heartbreaking news about the missing campers. It’s not connected to what we’re doing here, but given the theme, I didn’t want to ignore the overlap.

If you’ve seen the news too and it’s been sitting heavy with you, I get it. Sometimes things in the world just hit different, even when we’re trying to focus on lighter things.

I didn’t want to let it go unspoken in case anyone’s feeling a little off or caught between emotions. You’re not alone in that. It’s okay to be here for the creative break and still feel impacted by what’s going on in the world.

If you or someone you love has been directly impacted by this tragedy, please know our hearts, love, thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes are with you.

I’m grateful for this community—for being able to have fun together while still being aware of what’s happening beyond our screens.

    xx-Esther

Thank you Esther for acknowledging this. I know our theme is unrelated - not meant in any disrespect to those affected by this tragedy. I really appreciate you mentioning it.

As a former camp nurse, the weight of taking care of other people's children is heavy. When everything goes right, it's all forgotten. If something doesn't, it can really stay on. As a former sleep away camp family, this drudges up the fears of sending your kiddo away. I feel deeply for these families, staff, and counselors. Prayers for safety for the missing.

Even across in the UK we have seen the news. Flash flooding is devastating and it's awful to see the number of people who have lost the lives as a result.

I am sorry to say I've been avoiding the news for a while now, years really, since covid and war news got to me so bad I had physical symptoms of stress because of that. I sometimes stumble upon news from friends sharing on FB or like here for this and it breaks my heart. I hope for the best for the families and persons involved and I'll keep them in my heart until better news come along.

I don't think it this is displaced. Here, we share the good and the bad, both in the forum, our digi community, and our pages and sometimes it's good to know there will always be an ear, an eye, turned toward us as we sturggle or a digi shoulder to lean on when you don't feel yourself or sad.

It was truly scary seeing the pictures on the news last night. As a parent I could think of nothing worse than knowing your child is missing. Praying for all involved that there will be closure and hope despite the tragedy.

I can't imagine and it truly is a heartbreaking and devastating situation. I don't have the right words to convey all my thoughts. I hope they find the missing, and there is some sort of closure.
