A fascination about making ‘old things new again’ by Rachel

Ever since I stumbled into Mixed Media Art and Crafting (more than ten years ago) I’ve always had a fascination about making old things new again.

From putting together my own art and junk journals from scraps and recycled materials, to including ephemera or old textures in my art from years gone by, up-cycling found numbers, words and other random eclectic bits that can add hidden meaning, context and symbolism to new art - the list goes on!

The ‘Assembles Collections’ are bags of fun and some of my favourite products in my shop. They have been carefully curated mostly from my stock of vintage textures, imagery, ephemera and other finds which makes them truly unique.

I’ve literally raided my ephemera bins for this July ‘BYOC’, and have had fun hand picking bits and pieces from my huge stock of goodies that are filed away here in my studio that I use for my personal Collage work.

These pieces have been carefully assembled together resulting in a full collection that was inspired from curiosities found in years past and this edition for the July BYOC is ‘FOLIO’

The team and I have explored all kinds of stories with Folio, broad and versatile, it’s perfect for your outdoorsy photos, thoughts and feelings that are noteworthy and ones you’d love ‘filed’ away in your ‘folio’ aka your ‘scrapbook’!!

We recently took a trip to a local nature reserve and I found the colours and stamps in this Collection ideal to embellish one of my favourite photos!!



Meanwhile, Gaelle has paired it with Lynn’s new templates, showcasing how the collection can be ‘dressed down’ but making a gorgeous bold piece.



Theresa has been working her hybrid magic, and printing, cutting and crafting with the Collection in her Studio, she was inspired to document the trusting of her gut instinct and taking a chance, following her own values and truths and used a ‘I am so glad’ based prompt to structure her journaling.



Natasha documents her first night in Barcelona, and her exploration of the ‘gothic quarter’ and hidden magics found down the twists and turns of each intriguing alley!
