Hi everyone! I've just come back from a fabulous trip around the Mediterranean and have about a gazillion photos to play with! Has anyone printed a book with Mixbook? They are one of the few companies who print 10x10 and ship to the UK. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have used them (or if you have any alternative options for me!). Thank you lovelies!
Yes, I printed my 2024 project life book with Mixbook. I had been a loyal Shutterfly use for literally decades but just wasn't happy with their printing quality lately. I was super happy with Mixbook! I did not get the layflat pages and the spine was stiff at first in the front and back pages but it has gotten a lot better as I've opened it up more. Here was a post I did a few months ago https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threa...mory-planner-with-mixbook.96321/#post-1640541
Oh wow, your book is stunning! Thank you so much for your feedback, I think I will give Mixbook a try! ETA: Did you go for the matte paper option?
Miss you my friend!! So glad you popped in!! I use blurb bur i think @LynnG Lynn Grieveson prints 10x10
Hi you! It's nice to be back! I was thinking of using Blurb, but they don't offer a 10x10 size. I'm still mulling over my options! So many choices...
I did the Premium Luster paper. It's a little bit shiny and maybe a tiny bit pearlescent but not as shiny as a glossy photo paper.
I tagged Lynn Grieveson as i know she prints 10x10 with a company .. not sure which one.. hugs my friend
I'm late but I've used them too - it was a few years ago now but i thought they were decent for what it's worth - there's some photos in an older post here https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threa...cal-scrapping-tribe.95403/page-2#post-1626349 (in the last photo of the covers, my 'not glossy' photo hardcover albums are mixbook (the one below it is shutterfly) and i actually liked their paper for inside pages better than shutterfly, b/c shutterfly's paper is so glossyeven when i select matte or something else and i'm not a fan of glossy - the top photo in that post, the page where she's doing magic tricks with the rabbit card element, that's the glossy shutterfly paper compared with mixbooks paper up the top)
I also prefer to print 10 x 10 books. I have a spreadsheet of printers where I list prices and reviews. I don't know about their shipping policies to the UK, but here are some notes. MixBook: I have printed 3 books here and think that the print quality is excellent. I use the Signature Lustre paper, lay flat hardcover. My notes say that they don't have a wrap-around cover and that you have to have an odd number of pages--there are 2 white pages at the end. PrestoPhoto: I've printed 2 books here but it does not have the lay flat option in 10x10. Shutterfly: has a 10x10 option--I'm not crazy about the quality (reviews say so-so-color and flimsy binding) Printique: Great quality, very expensive. I've used this (lustre paper) for small, special books. Mpix: poor quality Mimeo Photos: no image on the back cover
I use Blurb all the time for my trip books.. I do not know if they have a 10X10 as I use 12X12... Marilyn @mcurtt uses their magazine style and loves it too. There are always coupons too... my Blurb books are using the top quality paper with wrap around cover. Love them!
Blurb don't offer a 10x10 book (they do 13x13cm - about 6 inches, 18x18 - about 8 inches and 30x30 - 12 inches here in the UK). Usually they would be who I would use but 12x12 is just a bit too big for this book I think!
Thank you so much for your reply! Your books are lovely! I can definitely see the difference in papers, I prefer a less glossy finish so the Mixbook is looking like a good option. Thanks again! This is great info, thank you! I know that Printique sadly does not ship to the UK and that Shutterfly's shipping costs are ridiculously high but I will take a look at the others you mentioned, many thanks again!
