Hello scrappers, and congratulations for making it to the end of our MOC 12 event! Whether you finished all 31 challenges, or just a few of them, I hope you learned something new about scrapping, or about yourself, or both! This year, our event has been all about connections - family, friends, technology, techniques. For our last challenge, I want you to think about what is one of the most important connections we have - your connection with yourself. But what does connecting with yourself mean? Maybe it's about clearing your mind with a hard workout. Maybe it's spending time in your garden. Maybe it's nothing more than 30 minutes immersed in a new book. For me, it's about getting the chance to hear my thoughts and to let my mind wander wherever it wants to go. So for our last challenge, I want you to scrap a page about connecting with yourself, what that looks like and what it means to you. Your page: Can include photos, or be photoless Must include a minimum of 100 words of journaling about how you connect with yourself (for reference, my journaling below is 140 words). Please provide your word count in your post or your gallery credits. Your journaling should be in complete sentences to qualify as complete. Word art will not qualify toward your word count. You cannot use the same word over and over. You cannot use the same sentence over and over again. Journaling challenges are meant for telling stories; if your journaling is sensitive or personal, please message me directly to discuss. My page: General guidelines for your page: Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad). Hopefully, this challenge will remind you to take time out of the hustle and bustle of your daily routine to connect with yourself in a way that is meaningful and special to you!
I need alone time to recharge, whether that is a walk in nature, being at the beach, sitting and watching the waves roll in, ebbing and flowing or just lying on my bed listening to a podcast, watching you-tube or playing my township game. I love spending time with people, close friends, having deep and meaningful conversations, but too many people and superficial small talk drains me and I need alone time, silence and peace to recharge. As I embrace the empty nest, it's important to me to find purpose in my days. Part of that is co-facilitating Griefshare, helping people struggling with profound grief and loss. Part of that is visiting hospitals to pray for people and staff as an Emergency Services Chaplain. Part of that is leading Healing Streams and helping people with their inner healing journey. I'm glad you posted early so I could think on this one. It's sometimes hard to think of me - many times I put others first.
I am so glad that I have managed all 31 layouts. This has been a big thing for me. Jan-31----Connecting-with-Yourself by Dannisa posted Jan 31, 2024 at 4:24 PM
Word Count 134 My happy place is time on the bicycle going through some awesome terrain with lots of single track. My team name used to be Single Track Minds ;-). I rode my bicycle right through my Chemo 4 years ago and saw myself deteriorating at a tremendous pace. But any time on the bike even for a few metres for me is a good time. I loved how I could just put my cycling gear on and nobody would know that I had no hair. The problem for me was that I never recovered to my pre cancer level and I fixed that by buying an e-bike. My bicycle is my cycologist and it gives me unlimited free sessions…. I even designed a cycling shirt that has that as a logo depicted on this photo…
Here's my layout for this challenge. I had 104 words of journaling text (text is in the Gallery). 01_31 Connecting With Yourself by AlyciaIN posted Jan 31, 2024 at 5:01 AM
Thank you for this challenge - yet again MOC made me FINALLY do a layout I've been meaning to do. Here's my layout. Total words: 199
thank you for this last challenge! Journaling: 106 words The older I get, 51 years on the clock, the more I know what I need to feel good. After, for example, busy days with lots of chatting, I absolutely need quiet periods, alone at home, reading by the fire or on my deckchair, walking outside, preferably in the sunshine for a few hours, with absolutely no interaction whatsoever (just with my cats! lol). It's essential for my balance. I also need regular discoveries (trips, escapades, hikes in unfamiliar places etc.), drinks (cocktails, wines) in the sun by the pool or the seaside, family time with the 4 of us.
