i am bad about half watching most things--like background noise--while I scrap...which is what I did tonight.

Steven and Jennifer seem like softies, pretty empathetic with lots of the contestants which is kind of nice. I got cracked up a couple of times...the girl that wants to be the first pop star to do show tunes and the girl from Georgia who is 16 and "3 quarters" were the funny highlights for me.

I am with Julie though, i am recording, but not committing to the whole season.

we watched part out of curiosity, part because DH knows someone who made it to hollywood. sadly he was sent home after the 1st round. don't want to post anymore spoilers so i'll save what he had to say about it all until later. :)

eta...i miss simon, too. and jacque...he totally did it for me as well.

I was pleasantly surprised. I was ready to not watch idol this season, but it might be ok. The talent seems much better, and they cut down on the number of embarrassing auditions. Actually, anything could be better than last season! It was a total snooze fest.

Hi I'm mandi (new kid here, notice the post count compared to the thousand others have, lol) Like someone else said, I scrap while watching most TV shows these days because there's just not enough there to hold my attention, husband says I have adhd. I didn't know what to expect from the premiere last night. I was surprised at how soft both of them were. Steven Tyler is hilarious on the show. Jennifer is like a modern version of Paula, except she doesn't seem to ramble as much. I've got it set to record each week, but it's definitely not a must see like the previous years (except last year because it sucked).

As for Simon, he left to bring his show over to the US- The x-factor, which is set to air this fall on fox. I think within a year or two, AI will be gone.

    hi mandi!

i thought about watching but didn't. i thought, 'i didn't really care at all last year, why bother.' honestly last year i would record it on teh dvr and then basically skip all the way to the end to see who was eliminated. not exactly worth the time. maybe i'll watch this year after i've heard some decent reviews on last night. idk. is it supposed to be on again tonight? are they still doing the 2-night format like before?
