My 91 year old mother-in-law Joan and I have been friends for 40 years now. When I married Wayne I was only 22. I grew up in a not so good situation. I have not spoken to my parents in over 30 years. Joan guided me whenever I needed a friend, or Mom. So it's no surprise to my husband that we agreed to move in with her to keep her happy in her home. She was diagnosed with having Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. Moving in to comfort her at times of confusion and fear has been hard and rewarding at times. Most times now she won't know who we are, or where she's at, but seeing her smile does my heart good knowing I'm there for her as she was there for me.

Can't believe I made it! Thanks so much for this introduction to Traveler's Notebook. I feel like my pages are a little stiff and awkward, but with practice... This has been great fun and such good therapy! Image is linked.

And with this...I finish MOC 7!!

    Journaling:

I was destined to marry a drummer. From my youngest days, I always gravitated towards drums and drummers. My favorite person in nearly every band? The drummer.
My Dad was a country music singer and guitar player and had retired when my Mom gave him an ultimatum: Music or kids. He chose a family. In the 1970’s, he decided to take up his his guitar again. He started a guitar choir at our church and when my parents made a Cursillo in 1973, he became “The Big Guy with the Big Guitar”. He quickly became the assumed leader at the occassions the community got back together.
One day, a handsome young man came to one of the meetings with a Djembe drum. My Dad saw him, and immediately said, “Son, you stand right next to me!!!!!” On his way there, the young man said to himself, “If anyone says anything negative about me bringing a drum, I’m outta there!!”.
My Dad and my future husband fell for each other that day. From the moment they met, there was a connection, and we joked that when he found out that my Dad came with the package, we started dating.
Through this time, my Dad was thrilled to have a real drummer in his band. Up until then, our drummer was
named “Mo”...you know, MO Chine...Machine. He only had a drummer in a box.
On our wedding day, we all got up and played country music at our reception, and I sang a song I wrote for Michael.
Our lives have always been filled with music, and that’s just the way we like it! Our daughter is now in the choir at our Church with Michael and she loves to sing. Even though my Dad is now gone, his music lives on in the songs he recorded and the love we have in our heart for him. Who would have thought that a hand drum would bring me my soul mate, my husband, and my forever love!?

Oh my goodness, I can't' believe this is the last one! I've never done one of these before, and I've been struggling with it all day and half the night! It was fun, though! I may have to try this again sometime. I have been behind for days this whole time, and now I'm sad it's over!!!

Well, got it done and trying to post but the gallery won't accept it saying it's too big. I keep resizing it down have it down to 8x8 72 and it still says its too big! Haven't had any problem before this. Will have to try again tomorrow since its late. Wanted to get it up to make sure it passes challenge requirements!

If I ever get a chance to redo a page, it will be this one. I like it well enough, but oh, I could have added so much more stuff. As it was I spent far too long on the journaling - and trying to get the rotation right. Things are still a bit skewed in spots, but close enough for this last day, this last challenge.

It's been a month to remember, in more ways than one, and everyone who helps bring MOC to life has my eternal thanks.

ETA: I forgot to mention - when I went looking for this picture of my family I couldn't find it - the only version I could put my hands on was the scrapped version from my first MOC. It seemed very fitting to use it for the last day of my third (the other is from last year's MOC, because why not add another connection?)

So excited I finished! Yeah! Thank you for the fun challenge. I wish I had more time to think about this one though. :-) I know I have a story that I say, this is such a full circle moment but could not think of what it is today. LOL
