Thanks to all that have join us in creating the memorial for Dawn. We could all learn something from her, from her compassion, how sweet she was, how supportive she was with everyone that needed a hand, from her relationship with her daughter, from her love to animals, colors and art. Every week we will make at least one page to commemorate one of those amazing qualities we experienced from Dawn. I understand that some of you may not have known Dawn well but these are all qualities that I think we all wish we have and/or we all wish we can express to those we love. Dawn had such a beautiful view of Mixed Media art, her work and products just brought up everything that we want our Art Journals to have in real life. WEEK # Paper tears, paper curls and textures. Dawn created some of the coolest paper tears in the industry and her mix media textures like: gesso, washi tapes, stitching were as real and amazing as her. So use any in your page this week. It was her paper tears and curls that made me discover Dawn for the first time. I was seeing these pages with the most magnificent paper tears and flips that I had ever seen. I learn that it was part of the products that she created. My first buy from her store was a set of paper tears. You may create any style of layout (ie. clean and simple, artsy, pocket style etc.) you wish, with or without photos but for this challenge you do need an image of some sort. Create any size page you wish. This is for everyone, so have fun and see where the inspiration takes you. If you want all 4 Muses on one page that's perfectly ok or you can make 4 separate pages!! It's totally up to you! Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to August 2nd and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code". We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month for a coupon!! You can use any products in The Lilypad store or retired products from current Lilypad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines).
Dalis, what a beautiful tribute to Dawn - both is what you said and what you created. Dawn was the first designer here that really jumped out at me. Of course, I learned to love many more of them, but almost anything I do has something that Dawn designed on it. Every newsletter I got from her was like a magnet - I headed straight to the TLP store. I probably still have more of her designs that anybody else, although my whole stash is getting huge. You know I'll be creating something for this third week.
Thanks so much Dalis! She was on my mind the whole time I was creating this page, and how many kits she made about the sea and the creatures in it and how I hoped it would be a good tribute for her.
Her sea/ocean kits are some of my favorite. I seriously think she would have felt right at home with your page. XOXO
I agree with Marilyn @mcurtt I started working on my page yesterday and continued working on it this morning. I've been very deeply involved with creating this and reflecting on all the help I've derived from Dawn's work. You can read more about how her work has touched me in the gallery.
This page is mainly in memory of my mom, who passed when I was in my early 20s. This was one of her favorite songs. I didn't know Dawn, but I've followed and collected her kits since I started DigiScrapping a few years ago and came across her wonderful illustrations.
Oh wow! These layouts are just so beautifully created, I am in awe of the talent here at TLP and simply love how you all have used Dawn's beautiful products here! Gorgeous work everyone!

I love the torn paper heart that Dawn created for her Smitten kit. It looks so vulnerable; just perfect for this challenge. I know there is a great deal of sadness in the community, but I do believe "(t)here is a place where broken hearts will be mended and all tears dried. We will meet again in that place and dance."
