Hubby & I are both allergic to cats, but we have one & we love her. My 8yo has allergies & I told him I wouldn't be surprised if he's allergic to cats too. He shrugged it off, "I don't care, we all love Poppy". That's how hubby & I feel too. We just take our allergy medicine every day. I grew up with animals my whole life. Hubby & used to be a guinea pig rescue before kids. Someday, I'd like to have a sheep.

We currently don't have any pets, and I'm loving it! No fur all over, no allergy problems, no little box, no damage to whatever, hassle-free traveling. Pet free - care free!!

We have three doggies in my home our Sokee (yes thats were I get my name) we got as a puppy her actual name is Sokeri which means sugar because she reminded me of brown/white sugar. She is so so sweet, our Selah we got off the rescue site and she is totally melted my heart as soon as I saw her on the computer screen she just wants someone to love her! Our Teddy (who will move when my daughter does this spring) came home under my hubbys arm when he went to the neighbors home when we had not seen her in a while. She was elderly and unhealthy so she actually gave that job to us..... to check on her. So our Anna said Teddy was hers from that day forward.

That's nice that they give you a discount. :) When we captured Hannah (the feral cat) and took her in, the vet charged us extra because having her trapped in the cage, it looked like there was a tasmanian devil in it. It was crazy. So we had to pay a $75 addition to the spay charge. Tim was not amused. Especially since we thought she was going to just disappear after that. But she's stuck around. LOL. Hannah's mom had several batches of kittens and always brought them to our house (back to back to back). At one point, there were 11 cats in/around our yard (from little Momma) and then our two. It was insanity. We finally got homes for most of them, fixed all the females, and a couple of the males disappeared (thanks to an evil dog down the street), but Hannah has stayed nearby. We don't see her at all during the day, but she comes in every night to eat.

It's nice that Hannah comes by. The crazy kitten maker that we can't catch is named Scottie, after the character on Suits. She has even gotten out of the TNR trap. We are hoping to try again in a couple of weeks.

We have one little beast of a long haired chihuahua named Mango. We love her dearly, but besides her chihuahua personality, she was also abused before being turned into the Anti-Cruelty Society. She has scarring where all her ribs on one side had been broken... probably due to being kicked. She's not keen on new people, but once she stops acting like a freak, she usually warms up to people fairly quickly. She's my shadow and is currently laying beside me here on the couch. She is technically my daughter's dog as she bought her with her own money when she was 9... but since I'm home all day, she's more bonded to me.

We also have two goldfish (Bubbles and Pheven - Stephen with a PH from the meme). They were won at a carnival in Michigan almost 2 years ago. They made it home to Chicago in a Cool Whip container. They seem fairly indestructible.

The closest we have to cats are the feral cats that like to sun themselves on our garage deck. There's a colony somewhere near us and we know they're feral because of their docked left ears.

We had our first dog, Jackson, for 14 years. After he past, we got another Bichon, Abby, 8 months later. She is so much fun. I would like to get another puppy, but my husband isn't thrilled with the idea.

we have none now and , even though I would LOVE to have animals, I know is not wise. We live in an apartment , we have communal gardens but I am not well enough to care for myself...let alone an animal... I grew up with dogs and later in life learned to love cats, always loved horses, had tortoises, canaries and a variety of other animals depending where I was living.... but art some point my life became traveling a lot so no more until we moved to Brazil again when Sarita was little... we had a dog, but the village was a very small, not much progress place so everyone's cats & dogs were like owned by all the children in the area...Sarita's dad was a horse man so when we were there we had an agreement with the main horses guy, and Andy would take Sarita to teach her how to ride since aged 3...
Back here in London I tried finding out for her to keep riding but the costs and travel involved was something I couldn't afford :(
In 2002 a friend gave us a cute, small California King snake which I gave away before my mum came over for my last hips operation in 2005... we loved our Cruella! LOL (called her so as she was black and white !!!)
She always wanted a dog, since we came back when she was 5... but I was already not too well, and I am not keen on having dogs in restricted space...we ended up having a rescue cat called Liara, which we both loved but Sarita stressed me out as I had to constantly remind her to clean the litter and feed her...still, I was doing it in the end but when we traveled to South America to see the family in 2009 there was none to look after her....so we found out that the Cat Protection League does not put them to sleep (the RSPCA does if they are not adopted after 6 months) and gave her up to them ....
I'm not very well now so is out of the question.... I have to admit I don;t get too attached...is not only animals... I try not getting too attached to humans either LOL

ohhhh myyyy...what do you think of my posts, I m wondering here now, if you think this of yours is long? :giggle

the feeding and general looking after was why I didn't get any other an animals after we had to give our last cat away..... Sarita was 13 at the time and I stressed so much over the feeding and litter cleaning, that I was almost relieved when we had to give her away.... (we were traveling for 6 weeks and none could look after her) so yes, unless you do something like Jen @jk703 and make sure it wont be left for you as a chore.... I would not feel too guilty LOL

mmm bearded dragon.... nice idea , but I had a friend who had two big lizards...they stunk LOL
we had a California KIng we called Cruella as she was an awesome bklack and white pattern...we had her just until before I had the last hips operation in December 2005 as my mum was coming over and I knew she would freak out...but we loved having her, but I was a lot better health wise at the time...

We have this gorgeous giant fluff ball. His name is Dozer and he's 2 years old. He is my service dog, as well as a part of our family.

We also have 3 cats. Lainey is almost 7, Nucky is 4 1/2, and Ace is almost 4. All 3 of them HATE HATE HATE Dozer. He's been with us for 2 years and they still aren't over it...lol

Cats and dogs and birds and fish and hamsters and even a hermit crab. No rest for the wicked. When the boys were 6 and 2 respectively we decided to have a cat for each so they had a pet and learned to take care of them, and yes a few facts of life, like they hunt and eventually die. Tigger and MeeToo were both indoor/outdoor cats and we had lots of forested areas around so I would say they really led the life of Riley around our house. Neighbors would laugh because I used to whistle for the cats when the kids came in at street lights, and here came the cats to my whistle. They brought us lots of treats like dead mice and snakes. Tigger, who became Tigger Boo, then just Boo, even brought a live mouse in the house with her one night before I realized it was still alive and that led a merry chase. I also once chased her all over the neighbourhood to save a newborn rabbit. And there was the time MeeToo climbed a very tall tree and it took us three days to get him down.
MeeToo was a great huge cat and died of heart failure in his sleep at 14. Boo stayed with us for a few more years but we finally had to put her down due to cancerous tumors. If anyone mentions Boo my 36 yr old son still gets tears in his eyes. Both were rescues.

After these guys I really felt we had experienced enough animal love, but my sons surprised me with a beautiful Abyssinian kitten for my birthday a few years later. She is Lucy Loo, a mischievous red head named for Lucille Ball and little Lou Lou if anyone remembers who that is.. We added her a playmate of a rescued himilayan when she was two. Sometimes they get along and sometimes not, but he thinks he's a dog anyway. Lays on his stomach and begs, rolls over, etc. If he barked I wouldn't be surprised. Lucy is 16 this year so I'm not sure how much time I have left with her.

Both boys have dogs and cats. I love my grand dogs (two wonderful rescued labs). We are just a pet family.

We have a dog and a cat. It's important to us that our kids grow up with pets, both for the awesome companionship and the responsibility. Right now, we have a German Shepherd named Calla who is 3 1/2 and a Siberian Forest Cat named Bella who is 1. We're planning on getting a puppy this fall when our oldest goes to college. It's my way of coping with those empty nest feelings. LOL And our dog will definitely enjoy having another playmate. :)

We don't have any pets and it makes me so so sad. I love animals but my boyfriend is highly allergic to practically everything. Sometimes I joke that I'm going to trade him in for a cat which I have not had the pleasure of owning. Yet. Some people have baby fever, I have cat fever.
Second to cats, I adore me some ferrets! They are amazing little weirdos and such great fun!

I am allergic to pet dander - but that has not stopped my family, we have had everything you can imagine as pets at some point. Right now though we are puppy sitting a sweet poodle for 6 months while her family is in the US - I like to have pets that are trained or easy to clean up after - we have had our share of big disobedient pets and I lost more shoes, and books and craft supplies than I care to admit! :)
