Johnny Appleseed | Pad Patter 9.26

I like Red Delicious apples, they are medium sweet. I used to like green apples with salt sprinkled on them when I was a kid.

 

When I ate apples, it was Red Delicious.

I hear the name Johnny Appleseed a lot since there is a metro park district by that name just 10 miles from my town. There are 14 parks in the district located in several counties in the area.

 

Without a doubt - Granny Smith are my favorites!

 

I'm not particular about apples . . . and prefer several other fruits over apples.

But I've been making this apple crisp a lot over the last couple years.

 

Honey Crisp when they are in season, otherwise Gala. I like Granny Smith for caramel apples or when I’m dipping apple slices in caramel. Red Delicious are good, but when cut they turn brown too quickly.

Anyone eat Waldorf Salad? Apples, grapes, marshmallows, raisins, celery in mayo or Miracle Whip? Some recipes don’t include the raisins, but have walnuts instead.

 

I love Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, and Pink Lady!

 

Pink Lady gets my vote, although Fuji and Golden Delicious are great too.
When I saw the title of the thread I remembered singing Johnny Appleseed in Girl Guides, it was said to bring the rain...

 

I like sweeter apples. We have TONS of apple farms around us that do U-pick in the fall. I used to love taking the kids to do that. I love honeycrisp, pink lady, gala and golden delicious (looks like the one Amanda posted above)

 

Honey Crisp for sure, but I also like Fuji and Pink Lady. Now I'm hungry for apples.

I like Gala, Pink Lady and Golden Delicious. I want to try that Cosmic Crisp!

 

Mini-marshmallows ... weird, but that's what my mom added along with grapes and raisins.

 

Now that you've said that it triggered a memory for me as well. I remember seeing it made the same way and just google waldorf salad with marshmallows... recipes do come up.

 

The 60s were full of weird recipes ... lots of Jello salads ... mom made one with lemon jello, crushed pineapple and grated carrots. I tried making it a few years ago, but it didn't taste as good as I remember it tasting. Of course, I didn't have her recipe and was just going by memory of what went in it.

 

Yup. Those were the days! I've got all Mom's recipes. I should go through them some time.
