Here is a thread to discuss episode 2. There will be spoilers. If you are catching up, episode 1 discussion is here: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/game-of-thrones-season-8-episode-1-discussion-spoilers.62961/
I liked the first episode. Not a ton of actions, but some. The 2nd episode was devoid of action, but lots of characters interactions...
I thought the first episode was good. I think they are tying up loose ends. We have a episode one discussion once you watch it. The link is above.
Oh my goodness last night's episode had me tearing up multiple times (Ser Brienne, anyone?). And to think that half of our beloved characters will probably die by the end of episode 3.....
So much going on in episode 2. Here come spoilers.... I totally cried when Jaime made Brienne a Knight. That was such a bittersweet moment seeing all the “enemies” having a drink together and just reminiscing. I also loved Theon coming back to Winterfell and Sansa welcoming him back. Ghost!!! Although rather anticlimactic but still GHOST! The exchange between the Hound and Arya showed that Arya has grown up. Loved when he said he fought for her too and when he asked if Beric was on her list too. The love scene between Arya and Gentry has to be done because it showed Gentry all of her scars and to see his reaction, IMO. I know lots of people online were freaking out about it saying it was so awkward to watch. Don’t know about Theon guarding Bran, but we will just have to wait and see. I mean what could go wrong with that? Danny has got the throne on her brain now. Her reaction when Jon told her proves it. Her love for the iron throne is greater than her love for Jon at this point. This episode just made me sad. I kept thinking in the back of my mind, they are all going to die next week.
Me too!! Hubby during the knighting was just like are you CRYING?? Me: sniff sniff no... Hubby: do you need a Kleenex??? I can’t believe you are crying. Me: I SAID I WASNT!!!
Episode 2 - C´mon people! My spontaneous reaction is that they just kept us in suspense before the big war starts. So full of nothing really - I want more action than this!!! At least the dragons were in episode one...
I totally called the Arya / Gendry pairing! It's funny the actresses that play Sansa and Arya are less than a year apart in age (they were 11 and 12 when they started filming the first season), but everyone thinks of Arya as being so much younger. I teared up when Brienne was knighted. This was the first episode where Dany was a bit unlikeable for me. Of course, we don't know how the conversation between Jon and Dany would have ended. I need to rewatch the episode. I had to pause it so many times because my little dude wanted attention that I feel like I missed some pieces .... for example, I don't recall a Ghost sighting, lol.
They did not make a big deal about ghost. He was just standing behind Jon. You would have totally missed it if you blinked.
I think they were trying to close all the story arcs. Next weeks episode is 82 minutes long. Lots of time for action and people dying.
oh my...so much to say!! I liked it, both episodes were necessary to try to close and connect the open arcs, they made 6 slow seasons, them 7 season was very fast, so now they needed to start slowly to have a 3rd episode of war. yesterday was kinda bittersweet, cause now we know that many of those beloved characters are gonna die next weekend... about Ghost: I didn't see him too, only when I noticed the buzz on twitter, I saw the screen shots of the moment and I was sad they didn't mention him on the show...there must be a reason for him still be alive! about Arya: I was kinda shocked, not because her age, but like, I didn't see that coming! altough I was shipping the Gendry/Arya couple....if it wasn't GOT! about Jonerys: well, Dany didn't like the option of not having the Iron Throne only for her, the new Targaryen wasn't well received... maybe the theories that she's evil are real?? *and what about theories, do you girls read them, or not? I'm reading a few on the last days...I'm going crazy with the possibilities, and finding possible hints on the episodes!
@Ferdy i totally read all the theories! I nerd out all week long checking to see if anything new is being posted But I think I might have made a mistake by clicking on an article about Arya and Gendry’s sex scene...because now I am getting ads on my feeds for a local, shall we say, “dance club,” and I have definitely never been targeted as part of THAT demographic before
I'm getting nervous thinking about next weeks episode already... I am already practicing my "you can't kill him/her off!!" yells of disappointment. We watched it with a few others (my sons friends, not my son who doesn't watch it...) and we all decided that Tormund is the best. You never have to wonder what he is thinking or what he is going to do - he just gets on and does it (although the whole giant story was a bit odd). I think Theon will die defending Bran or one of the other Starks - he needs a redemption story.
@Christina W omg, that's funny...sorry but I laughed!! and I'm totally geeky about the theories, even listening to a Brazilian podcast about it... @KarenW Tormund was one of the great surprises for me...he changed so much from his first appearance , now I don't want to see if he's going to die... I 'll do a bet with my fiancè, about the names of the ones who we'll say goodbye on the war...
@Ferdy I totally read everything GOT. It's like I am obsessed. I have to click on all the buzzfeed stuff and I belong to two GOT facebook groups. I know that a few years back there was a big theory that Tyrion was a Targarean. That was all speculated because he was able to care for Dany's dragons without getting killed. I also Have been reading alot about how everyone hiding in the crypts is as good as dead because the Night King will raise the dead, but I am not sure how that is going to work. I thought the night king had to kill you or you had to be killed by a white walker in order for him to raise you from the dead?! Is that not right? I didn't think it was just random. I also read that Brienne is going to die and rise and Jaime will have to slay white walker Brienne which is horrifying. @Christina W Oh no! I just keep getting more buzzfeed things in my feed about GOT and Pop sugar stuff. No sexy dance place ads. @KarenW I was also thinking that Jaime is also going to die as part of his redemption. I am surprised that he wasn't going to be protecting Bran along with Theon. I think Jaime will die saving someone's life.
@weaselwatchr I love when you post buzzfeed stuff on FB so I can read it and be a GOT freak too! LOL!!! - on the last episode, there was a scene with Jon, Dany and Tyrion on winterfell's wall...and I was like: oh look, all 3 Targaryen reunite! lol - also, I read that Arya will kill Cersei using Jaime's face...that could be a very strong end to the brothers! ohhh...I love those ideas and theories! - this crypt will be something ...everyone was talking about how it was the safest place to be...not really!!
