...the true spirit of the MoC?

    I'll explain.
I had written a huge long post and then I realized, we all want to make the pages, so I ll make it shorter (or as much as I can me being me!!! :giggle )

Some of you know I have some neurological issues that make me sometimes not to be able to read the whole forum, so I am grateful @michelepixels tagged me in a comment in her posting of the Day 20 Storytrelling. (you can see the post HERE , my reply in post #142)
In it, she mentions the process to choose what to write about, and how she decided to make it with the Point of View for journaling a technique I had the honor to host on MOC 2 years ago... I know many of you will remember the "If these walls could talk" challenge.
I know it was a bit hard in the beginning- but maybe because of that, Michele telling us that she is using this journaling technique for her page makes me even more joyful.
I'm so so happy a challenge I hosted (and brought some people to almost hate me :giggle) stayed in her mind so much that she is now using as a tool for another challenge!
I have had then so many people turning from
-"how on earth do you expect me to do this?" or not quiet "getting" the point of view-
into coming to tell me that they had amazing experiences during the making of the page or that they used it in other pages because it was a revelation, something they ended up loving...... not only then, but many of you telling us, on the gallery, forum or by message to us, how you used stuff that we have done for MoC for your pages after, during the year.
This is the true spirit of MoC ...:heartlub:beat:heartlub

We were talking with Christa @cfile about the sensation of love and achievement when people use a challenge we hosted in other challenges or pages (in or outside MoC), or the amazing feeling when something that initially you thought to be a problematic thing turns into something you add to your everyday scrapping, and this is what I think, nope, wait...... better say I KNOW, Laura's aim with the MoC was, is and will always be:
for all of us to get scrapping, loving the new experiences, starting to love something of our scrapping we never knew we could love..... and to keep it going through our year and beyond...... to learn, scrap, enjoy.
    So, THIS.
    The TRUE SPIRIT OF MoC
    Have you experienced THIS?

Then there is the non scrapping side: meeting new people, getting to know better others, or discovering how much we all, from so distant cultures in the world (some of us at least) we have so much in common.... I can tell 80% of us want to go see the Northern Lights and do an Alaskan Cruise... (I think we should make another thread and plan a trip!!!) apart from Disney but that isn;t that much of a surprise to us....
So, tell us, are you experiencing the magic?
I know some of us are- every day I am feeling the love more and more!!!!!!

(and thanks SO much to the ones of you who check up on me privately constantly...you all rock!!!)

I'm a MOC virgin, so I've had less of an opportunity to "reuse" the challenges inspiration for other scrap pages, but it's always nice to learn something new, meet new people, etc, etc, etc ... and I can definitely see some of these themes creeping into my everyday scrapping.

For the MOC7 journaling challenge the title of my page is actually "What if these walls could talk" ... but I didn't know you'd hosted a challenge of that same name (nor did I tell my story from the right POV)!

I was actually surprised at how many people want to take an Alaskan cruise! I didn't know it was that popular of a destination. The port in Seattle where most of the cruises start is literally a mile from where I'm sitting right this minute. I've been to Alaska, but never taken a cruise. It's definitely a travel bucket list item.

Also noteworthy observation, I had no idea people were so obsessed with Disney!? I must live under a rock, lol I never went as a child, but have been to Disneyland a handful of times as an adult. My kids have never been very jazzed about it for whatever reason.

LOL @SeattleSheri !!!! Disney, yes, we have here the Project Mouse, which is a full collection with events too, from Krista aka Sahlin Studio in collaboration with Britt-ish Designs, there is a whole line of products that must be around 7 years worth? I remember the 4 years event, I think it was 2015?
Someone correct me if I am wrong? @QuiltyMom @bellbird ?

I need to go see you, meet you in person.... maybe even if just to go see the filming of Greys Anatomy!!!!!! :giggle

I remember taking an 9nterest in Seattle in the very early 90s when the grunge (Nirvana) was on, and a film I watched with Matt Dillon (whom I was in love with with long hair LOL) , so, in our trip coast to coast in the USA, we have already got you in the map!!!!

and, risking being repetitive...so SO happy to have you here Sheri!!!!!!!!:heartslub

@MrsPeel - you know I love you!! :bk

MOC is the best because it brings us to all experience a new challenge together, and it is so fun to see how everyone interprets the same set of directions. It pushes me out of my comfort zone, and everyone is so supporting when there's questions, etc. It's great!

Thank you for your heartfelt post, my sister. Just belonging here is a "true spirit" feeling, not to mention MOC. I came to the party late last year and didn't finish, but am determined to finish this year. I look forward to logging on here every day (especially now to see what wonderful challenge has been posted). Every day is an adventure here and I love that I've learned so much in just a little over a year. All of the work that goes into MOC just blows my mind, too. We have the most talented, creative and giving staff and members here. I'm enjoying every single day of MOC7!!!

@MrsPeel Cynthia, Thankyou for sharing your heart with us all.
MOC is a great experience. I am enjoying the journey like I did last year which was my first year to complete all 31 challenges.

The Lily Pad is a "magical" place. I have been active over the years on so many different digi sites and have never found another place like this. There is such a loving caring feel about this place. I am so glad that circumstances in my life has allowed me to finally call The Lily Pad..... "home".

TLP is definitely a family. I am not usually a joiner, but I've stuck around since January 2015. Doing the challenges I believe has helped me be a more rounded individual. When I first arrived here, I could do artsy layouts with my eyes closed, but clean & simple or traditional scrapping? I just didn't think it was in my skill set. But they are, they can be, and I've enjoyed exploring all the different types. I guess the proof is that four years later, I'm still here. And I value all of my digi friends here.

Yes, this fourth time around especially I feel I've learned so much. I've tried things in my software that I never used before and want to do again. In fact, I want to jot down some of these so I don't forget about them!

Now that I've been pondering about this for a little while, I believe I have grown so much in my digiscrap skills since joining here at TLP and participating in MOC since 2016. I used to automatically go for a template first and essentially fill in the blanks. Now, I may start with a template but modify the heck out of it. I'm much more comfortable with designing my own page, have learned to love clean & simple, and have learned to love being artsy as well. I'm especially proud of today's page (Day 22).

The friendliness and camaraderie here can't be beat!

There is no place like home, indeed!!!!!! I feel you have become part of the family in so ,little time, it feels to me like you have been here for longer than actually is.... and thank you so so much for always checking on me, the support in chats and challenges, the pms and the prayers...... the gallery is more beautiful with your pages in, and the forums and chats are also much better with your presence!!!

    and back at YOU.
from you, I have learned so much more than scrapping stuff. I treasure you.!!!!!!!!!

    :heartlub:heartlub:beat:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub
I remember when you first landed here, and you were already one of those who make jaw breaker pages..... it kinda seemed i possible that you could get even better...but, yes, 4 years after my jaw still falls and breaks with each of your pages!!!!
Now, am nor sure I was clear with what I meant about people sharing, and I think you are one of those examples of what I wanted to find out who has experience this, remember you didn;t think you would do well with the Walls Talking...and then you made that page with the stapler?
I think you are one awesome example of what The Lilypad gives, we interact and gain not only the scrapping but the emotional, human side of things......and in both counts, you are an amazing part of this family!!!!!

    :heartlub:heartlub:beat:heartlub:heartlub

so so glad that this is happening...I remember when you first joined us, and ever since, enjoy your pages, your presence in the chats, I know some of my non scrappers friends think I give too much attention to the scrapping and community....but I think non scrappers can't know about the phenomena that occurs here....
Having you all here with all the support, has taught me and keeps teaching me, inspiring and making me richer in heart and wiser in life in general ...love that you have also become part of this family in a wonderful way!!!!!

I love your post, Cynthia (and you KNOW I love you!!!)! To me, the MOC isn't an annual thing that we enjoy (or sometimes not...lol). It's just a magnification of what is ALWAYS here at The Pad... love, respect, mutual admiration, knowledge-sharing, and a community that is like no other.

Yesterday, I was thinking about comments in the gallery that we all leave for each other. I think these truly represent the spirit of MOC and of The Pad overall. The fact that we take the time out of our day to say something nice about another's work because we know it will have a positive effect on them reflects how wonderful this community is.

We are always trying to lift each other up. It doesn't even cross our minds to be negative (shudder...yuck!). We don't feel that to elevate ourselves, others have to be less. It's just the opposite here, and I think that is an absolutely GLORIOUS thing!!!

Our community is a reflection of our leadership. Laura, Julie, Nancy, every perfectly-picked Polly, and the most INCREDIBLE designers in our field are the reason why The Pad is the family it is. Their strength of character and love for this memory-keeping quest have created our little piece of paradise, and I'm grateful every day for the gift that keeps on giving! Big love and hugs to all of my Pad Peeps!

And @SeattleSheri Iwent to Disney once, was like meh. But am wowed at the pages made from the place.
Me I love the everyday moments of scrapping. And
Give me a reason to extract!!!! Bhaha y’all be lucky cause I was wanting to torment y’all with some crazy extraction challenges!!
And I do love this place from miss Miriam-the scrapping machine that brought me here. To those that were scared of art journaling but tried. And the Ajer who went on a ledge and tried memory scrapping.
You project lifers I am in awe.

I have gotten to know more people through this event than ever before. I'm pretty new to The LilyPad and I'll be honest, the number of posts and layouts can be overwhelming. But I've had so much fun and it's challenged me to think outside of my normal box. In short, I'm having a blast. Looking forward to a whole year of fun here!

@MrsPeel Sorry I didn't have time to respond properly, I was multi-tasking in meetings, lol. I would love to meet in person! Maybe the stars will align! That would be so fun! Thanks for the info about the Disney collection, that makes total sense now that you say it.

I also realized I never answered the original question about MOC spirit. I would most definitely say I have it. I really enjoy the enthusiasm of the community and reading the sincere comments/likes on my pages, each one is a treasure. Traditionally, I've been a kit scrapper with very little deviation and with MOC I haven't used just one product for any page. In fact, most have at least 5 - 10 products.

@AnneofAlamo I often wondered if my kids weren't into Disney because they are boys? Are girls more attracted to the princesses than boys are to the more masculine aspects? Also, bring on the extractions! I could do them for every page! I love me some extractions!!!
