Dear Sydney,
The day you came into my life, was the
moment I truly understood what pure
love meant...up until that moment it
was kind of iffy! I was one of the "blessed ones"
that didn't go through any morning sickness
or gain excess weight (YAY for that!)...but what I
did find strange, was reading all of those stories
about these "glowing mom-to-be" (I don't think I
glowed) and how these mom's had already "fallen
in love" with the life growing inside of them.
Hate to break it to you, kiddo, but I wasn't one of those.
You were just...THERE. Like an alien. A constantly hiccoughing alien.
I worried that once you were born, I wouldn't feel
that all-consuming connection,..that great love.
And to be totally honest, that really scared the crap
out of me. What if it wasn't "love at first sight"?
(I mean...this was it...I was going to be a mom!)
After 36 hours of labor and some touch and go moments,
you finally arrived...and every notion and worry
I had flew out the window the first moment I held you!
You were PERFECT... you were STUNNING (you literally looked just like you did in this photo!) and you were ready to take on the world! (you haven't stopped since). You are my shining star...my over-achiever...my genius, beautiful, first-born. You can do anything you want to do...be anything you want to be (which you already have planned out...of course). I learned how to be a mom with you. It wasn't always easy and I'm sure I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I wouldn't trade a single moment.
You will always hold that extra-special place in my heart. I'm so proud to be your Mom!
I love you to the moon and back...always and forever.
