Isn't it funny how each one of us love something different to scrap with? No matter how the software programs function, our community shows its talent comes from within this fantastic group of people and IS NOT because of the tools we use!
I scrap primarily with photoshop cc. As a backup, I have GIMP as a portable app to use on any computer.
CS5 I started with some off-the-shelf photo editing program. I worked all weekend on a double layout and when I went back to edit something, the file was corrupt. So I bought Photoshop CS2 that very next day. Somewhere along the way I upgraded to CS5. I just don't want to pay for a monthly subscription, else I'd upgrade.
I just upgraded to PS CC 2018 a couple weeks ago (for the start of January!). Before that I used PS CS3 but it kept crashing whenever I loaded a template made in CC. Couldn't figure out why, so I finally reluctantly upgraded. I don't like the idea of paying a monthly fee, but I guess I'll get used to it.
I bet you i'll be the odd one out... I am using paint.net! Bet most have not even heard of it, but it's totally free, lots of plugins, very user-friendly, and i find that i can always do whatever technique/tutorial for PS using that software. I also installed gimp (also free), but don't use it, in the end it's always easier for me to learn how to do something in paint.net.
I started out with the first version of Storybook Creator and now use both Artisan 4 and 5. 4 for converting templates to page files and 5 for scrapping.
PS CC gal here. I have always used Photoshop from day 1. I tried elements but right away I got upset because you couldn't mess with the styles. I'm sure you can now, but back in the day PS was the only way to get custom styles and shadows. I've grown up with PS.
I started with a program my hubby bought for me...I think it was called Scrapbook Factory. I downloaded GIMP not long after that and that's what I use today.
I hated PS CC when I moved over from Elements, now im so glad I have it as there is so much help here for it!
Currently on PSE 14 on my mac and 11 on my PC. I use the Project Life app for scrapping while I'm on the road, and for planning pages.
I marked my answer as Artisan because that is still my go-to program. However, I am also trying to learn PSE 2018. Hope to really spend more time with it once MOC and Girl Scout cookie season are over.
CS 6 (so older PS) - if it ain't broke, don't fix it (and no, i dont know what i'm missing with CC but i'm fine with that #head_in_the_digi_sand )
I was using PS 5.5 for Mac until we had to buy a new computer and it was too old to run in the new OS. I switched over to CC2015 and that was a HUGE switch - they changed a lot of the commands. Grr.
I use CS6 which I am happy with. I did try CC but I think because of my windows 7 it played up. I could not get the text to work properly... drove me crazy so I was able to cancel my subscription.
I've been using Microsoft PhotoDraw from the start in 2008, and it is almost 10 years obsolete now. It is so easy to just get my pages put together and done, and I have been too lazy to actually figure out how to use my CS3 (another obsolete one LOL) that I have had for at least 5 years now.
