Thanks for sponsoring this wonderful challenge. I have been wanting to scrap my vases for a long time now.
It's not awesome photography. But this is nostalgia to me. Especially with the new upcoming episodes of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. I just really wanted to scrap it.
I scanned in an old photo and cropped it in a new way (two little square close up boxes). It's from when I had the intention of paper scrapping (which I never did). I'm not sure I've mentioned it much in my posts, but technically I'm my kids' step-mom. They live with us 365 days a year, and only see their birth mom on Christmases and birthdays. So, basically, I'm mom. I found this photo in a pile I had from forever ago, back when Ruth was 3 (in the picture) and Naomi was still 5 (I think she was playing on the "Pirate Ship" play structure at the time.) It was a great, happy day for us. I don't think we'd actually told the kids what was going on yet, but it was one of those days where it just felt like blue skies ahead.
I decided to not go for what I really wanted to do, as it's gonna be heavy and take planning and contemplation time, but to go for some nice memories from my childhood brought by the little photo of a toy that I saw very recently...
This photo is a gentleman that my sister saw on vacation...he reminds us so much of our grandpa that passed away 2 years ago...
The new photo is of the cloth rating badge. It is one of the few things I have from my time in the Navy. The old photo is of me during trade training as an ATC. As you can see I have a rating badge sewn on my overalls just like the one in the LO. I extracted just the rating from the pic I took so that there was no background.
I actually have something of my Mom's from YEARS ago (I'm 63), so dug it out along with some memories. Thanks for the challenge!
I took photos of my Grandfathers medals he won while in the army in 1929. He won 1st place in 2 events. The 200 meters dash, he won against future Olympian, Eric Lydel! Later this same year, he stood guard over the body of the assassinated Chinese emperor. I usually do not do such busy pages, but I did not have any themed kits to match this event, so I used mostly paper pieces
I thought of the perfect story yesterday while putting on my earrings for a wedding. <3 Thank you for the great challenge!
This is one of our favorite vacation spots. Every time we go it reminds me of going there on family vacations when I was young.
I hope this is ok! This is from a couple of years ago and reminds me of group photos from my childhood but I couldn't find them!
