looking info or links that offers to take photographs?

Help! A cursory search here did not turn up the requisite info, but I thought I came across it here once upon a time.

I'm looking for info or links to a service that offers to take your photographs or negatives ans scan them in in bulk. We have literally 1,000s of photos that are fast deteriorating and I'd like to scan them in. Doing it manually is a months-long task with the flatbed scanner I have and the only multi-sheet scanners I can find doesn't go past 600dpi and then a color scanner costs upwards of $2k. I figure for that much moola I should be able to get a fair chunk of our precious memories scanned somewhere.
