I recently had to get a new computer and now I couldn't transfer all the fonts off the old computer (probably just as well, there were LOTS!). I can't remember everything I had before, and so I'd love some input. I tend to use a lot of handwriting fonts, but I need some variety. What's your favorite?
I just had my own handwriting made into a font and am IN LOVE!!! I realize that's not very helpful to you- but it's such a cool idea that my handwriting can still be on my digital layouts you know!? ANywho- before that some of my fave free ones were: DJB Poppyseed (many of the DJB fonts are great!) KG When Oceans Rise (again lots of good handwriting fonts!) Roughnotes Jenna Sue On dafont- you can search through many of the 'handwritten' section too- there are many really good typewriter like fonts in the typewriter section as well! I'm totally a font-o-holic... enabling is fun! lol!
I'd love to know how you got your own handwriting as a font too. I pick some fonts because they are close to my writing, like Jenna Sue.
I found a link for Ali Edwards font which is one of my all time faves but I got it many years ago so not sure if this or any link is working now. http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/articles/CK_free_fonts
All of KG fonts are pretty great. She's got a lot of handwriting ones. I also like Missy Fonts. Some of my fave fonts though are: Peanut Butter Smoothies Daddy's Girl Grandma's Garden
I did mine through Becky Higgins/project life- https://www.digitalprojectlife.com/collections/fonts/products/custom-handwriting-font
Kiwi School Handwriting (dafont.com) School Book New (dafont.com) isn't a handwriting font, but it's a fun one. I had a TON of KG ones, can't remember how I got them all, but the same thing that you experienced happened to me a couple weekends ago...she has so.many. cute ones too...
For journaling, I pretty much stick with clean fonts - the varieties of Arial, Archer or Avenir. Funny that they're all "A" fonts! Here's Rae's Always & Forever one. I'm in love with this one now...Watermelon Script. It's great for stickers.
I'm suuuuuch a fontoholic it's not funny. I know DK Sheepman is one I go to for handwriting and of course, the Pea fonts. Pea Alicia is one I can remember off the top of my head. I also use Playfair Display, it's a free font and comes with different weights, so you can really go to town with typography mixing the regular plus italics, etc... I'll try and come back with a few more when I can remember, I just came in to peek and there are some GREAT recommendations here!
Advanced font question: So we all know that "Friends don't let friends float fonts." But lately, I've been trying to find a way to make my "handwritten" style fonts look more like pencil or pen. On their own, they are just too flat. Has anyone successfully applied styles to make them look more realistic?
I add a style to all my journaling- Mommyish has a great distressing set that has white/darken/lighten/black options so it will look good with the background- This is another good one that I don't have- and now realize I need!
