Journaling reads:
At 8:27 tonight Adam called. I answered. The first words out of his mouth are "I want you to know I'm okay." He then proceeds to tell me he'd just got home from being in a bad accident on Highway 281. I put the phone on speaker so Steve could hear, too. Adam was less than a mile away from home. Highway 281 is a four lane road, 65 mph, with crossroads. He said he saw the car come up to the crossing kinda fast, but she stopped and then...she went. He braked and all but he drove right in to the side of her. Both vehicles are totaled. They had to cut her out of the car and airlifted her to the hospital. Adam is okay. His knees are bloody and banged up. His chest hurts from the seatbelt and he said his back is starting to hurt. He's going in for X-rays and an exam tomorrow. He said it all happened so fast and yet it's like time slows down. His air bag exploded and he said the smell of that is terrible. He got out of his truck and walked over to the car and he thought the woman was dead because she was all slumped over. She had a passenger in the car with her who was screaming. The paramedics checked Adam and said he'd be sore and that they thought the driver of the other car, might have a broken pelvis. Can't figure out why the woman pulled out in front of him. I asked him how Shanni was doing and he said fine. He said the boys were excited that they got to see the helicopter land on the road. (2/3/16)
