It's Kayla aka keepscrappin here to give you ten ways to get more from your journal cards. Journal cards or pocket cards were first created for the pocket scrapper, but they have become quite popular with other scrappers as well because of their versatility and fun designs. I’ve compiled a list of ways to use journaling cards for more than pocket pages and hope it’ll help you get more from those awesome journal/pocket cards we see in The Lilypad store. 10 WAYS TO GET MORE FROM YOUR JOURNAL CARDS 1. Use a journal card as part of your design. I used 3 journal cards with my photo to make a simple grid design on this layout. Tilting the orange card and the photo added more interest to the layout. NOTE: Don’t forget to customize the shadows on your journal cards for even more POP! I used Fiddle-Dee-Dee’s Free Paper Warping Action on my shadows for the journal cards, word strips and photo. And scrapper, Christa @cfile also has a tutorial on creating realistic journal card shadows here in The Lilypad forum. 2. Use Journal Cards in place of a photo in a template. 3. Alter a journal card. You can use it all or just a part of it for your layout. I used the square marquee tool to cut the top section off a journal card for this layout. Note: Jen Evangelista did an awesome video blog tutorial on altering journal cards here. 4. Use a journal card as part of your cluster. 5. Change the blend mode on your journal card to use it like a stamp on your layout. I changed the blend mode to darken on the just me and my books jc and placed it on my photo to look like it was stamped there. 6. Use journal cards as paper layers on your layout. I used a journal card as the paper layer peeking out from the top of my photo. 7. Shrink journal cards and use as an element on your layout. 8. Use a journal card for your title. 9. Use a journal card as a frame for your photo. 10. Use journal cards to make a border for your layout. I got this idea from Jenn McCabe and a couple more here.
Both of those layouts are amazing! Love what you've done with the jcs. Thanks for sharing them with us.
